Helical ribbon mixer

Helical ribbon mixer is the most effective device for mixing viscous fluids. It is used in polystyrene reactor-polmerizers. The apparatus was studied to determine axial forces Pax occurring during operation of a helical ribbon mixer.

A helical-ribbon mixer having a rotation-symmetrical inner mixing vessel wall , a motor-driven central agitator axis therein, on which, on lateral agitator arms, at least one helical ribbon is held close to the vessel wall downwardly sloping with a circular slope  in a direction of rotation , wherein the helical ribbon ,vectorially combined circularly and radially, has a helical ribbon angle of slope  relative to the horizontal that is greater than a gliding angle on the helical ribbon of a material to be mixed.
