FAQ of Mill
Q: How do you clean a pepper mill?
I own a small, stainless, hand grind pepper mill. The bottom became moist and the grinder is all gummed up. There is no help on the web, although a couple of places say, "Never wash in water." Any ideas? --ask by Mishi
A: This one works pretty well.
This one works pretty well. Take a piece of bread (make sure it is fresh and not stale or hard), break up into chunks, put in the mill and turn it on. The moisture in the bread, plus the movement of the blades will help to dislodge and bind the stuff that is stuck in it. Then, just toss in the garbage!! (If it's really stuck, you might need to repeat, but I've never needed to do it more than once,)
Q:How can i make a wind mill or a wind turbine for science project?
Hi! my teaher told me to do a science project about energy, i want to do a wind mill or a wind turbine wich generates electricity and it can turn on the light. how can i make it? what do i need?
A: A traditional windmill is the easiest to build
that is pretty flat blades mounted in a vertical circle with a tail piece to aim it into the wind. The shaped blades of a propellor type wind generator are much harder to make as are the mixer shaped blades of a vertical windmill. The big problem of making a model of a standard windwill is getting the power out. The shaft the blade turns on must have a crank or gears that line up with the center of rotation of the head, so the blade axle must have a bearing on either side of the crank or gear head - in a small model, getting these bearings mounted, etc., gets more tricky than in a bigger device. If pumping is done with a crank, there must be counterweights so the windmill is only lifting water and not the weight of the shaft. If gearing is used, the tail must be bigger to offset the torque from the load (otherwise the spinning of the blades will rotate the head around the gears. The second reference in particular will give you good data.
Q:How do you know if a puppy you want to buy came from a puppy mill?
I don't want a puppy mill dog! How do you verify were the puppy came from? Pet stores in my area have been getting busted left and right for dealing with puppy mills. I don't want to contribute to that kind of activity.
A:Never buy a puppy from a pet store - these are mostly puppy milll dogs.
If you are getting a purebred dog, check the breeder. Reputable breeders are listed with the American Kennel Club, will ask you to complete a multi-page questionnaire, and will also interview you in detail to determine that you are a good home for their dog. They should be willing to answer any questions you have, and provide any documentation on the dog's parents and lineage that you request.
Q: What is the difference between a BYB and a puppy mill?
A backyard breeder is just an irrisponsible breeder. Someone who doesn't know anything about breeding. Usually it starts because they have a pure breed dog, and know someone else who has the same breed, so they decide to make puppies. Their dogs usually aren't health or temperament tested. They aren't breeding according to breed standards, or trying to better their breed. They are just making puppies. Sometimes to make a little money, sometimes because they think puppies are cute, and sometimes because they want their kids to witness a birth. Backyard breeders are not as bad as puppy mills, but they still aren't good because they are just adding to the overpopulation of dogs.
Puppy Mills are the worst things you could imagine. It is a large operation where they breed lots and lots of dogs as cheaply as possible, then they sell their puppies for a really high price, either over the internet, or they sell them to pet store. They keep their dogs in tiny cages through their entire lives. The dogs don't ever see a vet. They don't get any human interaction other than a bowl of food thrown at them every once in a while. They are usually matted and covered in urine burns. They breed their dogs during every heat cycle to produce as many puppies as possible. Puppy mills aren't usually run out of a person's home because they need a large area that is hidden from the public. Though if someone had a large piece of land hidden from common traffic, they might be running a puppy mill out of their home. Here is a video for you to watch about puppy mills: http://youtube.com/watch?v=2HM8UmHM8Uo
BYB's and puppy mills are basically the same thing. Puppy mills are just on a much larger volume. The BYB can be in a home, yes. Whether the pups are AKC registered or not, doesn't mean anything either as to whether you are buying from a puppymill or BYB. All of these breeders breed every cycle, without thought or care about what they are doing to their females. Breeding them twice a year, until they are 10 or so. 10x2= 20 litters in their lifetime. Someone who will do that to a dog does not care about the dog, only about the money. There is NO reputable breeder anywhere that will do that to a beloved dog!
